CURRICULUM

What is the target audience of Happy Homeschool?

Happy Homeschool is designed for independent homeschoolers, learners whose parents have decided to defer formal schooling during SY 2021 given the pandemic, and learners who may have enrolled in a formal school but would like to supplement their existing learning program.

Is Happy Homeschool a DepEd-accredited school?

No, it is not. Happy Homeschool is a learning service provider that provides a full-service curriculum and non-academic programs for independent homeschoolers. Happy Homeschool helps parents of independent homeschoolers to teach their learners, provide learning materials, and assess independent homeschoolers.

My child is already enrolled with another school. Can I still enroll my child in Happy Homeschool?

Yes. Happy Homeschool can be considered a supplementary learning program for your child.

What is Happy Homeschool's curriculum?

Happy Homeschool's curriculum combines DepEd's K-12 curriculum (as aligned to the Most Essential Learning Competencies) and interest-driven learning. Throughout the entire school year, learners will attend online classes taught by Vibal faculty, take offline modular self-paced courses, and will join non-academic programs and special courses based on their interest and learning journey.

What is the core program offering?

The core program offering constitutes the five to seven major academic subjects (Math, Science, English, Filipino, Araling Panlipunan, MAPEH and Computer) and interest-led activities. Happy Homeschool enrollees will avail of the core program offering.

Happy Homeschool also offers special courses (electives) per quarter/semester for students outside of the regular class schedule and standalone academic classes.

What are interest-led activities?

These are non-academic, skills-based, and interest-driven courses that Happy Homeschoolers will take daily. Students can choose their preferred daily activity based on the activity schedule that Happy Homeschool will provide.

Participation in interest-led activities and courses are part of the Happy Homeschool core program. Non-core program enrollees may also avail of the interest-led activities.

My child is not enrolled in Happy Homeschool. Can I still them enroll them in your interest-led activities?

Yes.

What are special/non-academic courses?

Special courses are elective subjects covering Arts, ICT, Reading and Writing, Life Skills, Social Skills, Motor Skills, MAPEH, and others. They will be conducted after the regular class schedule ends, also on a daily basis.

Special courses are not included in the enrollment fee and are considered add-ons. Parents may opt to enroll their child in special courses but this is not required.

When will you publish the schedule of special courses?

Once you have paid the enrollment fee, you will receive a notification once the schedule of special courses becomes available. Again, they will be conducted from 2PM or 3PM onward from Monday to Friday.

CLASSES

When do classes start?

Classes will start on September 20, 2021 and will end in May 2022. Happy Homeschool will cover the full four terms of the academic school year 2021.

What is the daily class schedule?

Academic classes are conducted from Monday to Friday from 8AM to 12NN. Interest-led activities are scheduled from 1PM to 2PM or 3PM (depending on the facilitator or your child's grade level). Special courses are scheduled from 2PM onward.

How are classes taught?

Classes are taught synchronously by Vibal's licensed professional teachers using VSmart School, our online school platform. Classes may also be conducted asynchronously through self-paced courseware in VSmart School and/or assigned printed learning materials, such as Smart Class (modular class book), Smart Wizard (workbook), and Academic Book (textbook).

Happy Homeschool implements a mixed ODL (online distance learning) and MDL (modular distance learning) learning modality. We will not require learners to undergo blended learning (mixed face-to-face and distance learning) at any point throughout SY 2021.

What is the typical class size?

A class size ranges from 15 to 20.

How will I communicate with my child's teacher?

Your child will have a dedicated homeroom teacher. You will also have the opportunity to meet your child's various subject teachers and facilitators for their interest-led activities.

The Happy Homeschool program is led by our Teaching and Learning Head Sarah Sunga and Happy Homeschool program coordinator Anne Sevilla. You may reach them at any time at happyhomeschool@vibalgroup.com at the onset. Again, throughout the school year, you will have the opportunity to establish regular checkpoints with the Happy Homeschool faculty and management.

How long will it take for me to receive my child's materials?

You will receive all learning materials on or before September 19, 2021 if you avail of early enrollment. For late enrollees, you may expect to receive your learning materials on or before October 31, 2021.

You will be updated as to the quarterly delivery schedule of your child's learning materials for the rest of the school year.

I have already bought the Academic Books/Smart Homeschool Kit on Vibal's online shop before I learned about Happy Homeschool. Can I deduct the prices of the books from the enrollment fees?

Please submit your receipt from Vibal's shop or proof of order and payment of the Academic Books and Smart Homeschool Kit. Please note that we will only honor paid orders placed through Vibal's online shop to offset against the enrollment fee. Please email both shop@vibalgroup.com and happyhomeschool@vibalgroup.com with proof of payment of Academic Books and Smart Homeschool Kit so that we can invoice you with the debited amount.

Please note that we can only offset the price of the particular subject or grade level that you bought. For example, you only bought Smart Homeschool Science Grade 5. Only Smart Homeschool Science 5 will be offset. The rest of the subjects will still be considered part of the Happy Homeschool enrollment fee.

Can I use other learning materials?

Yes, you can. You are free to supplement Happy Homeschool learning materials with other resources. However, the package inclusions are standard and cannot be deducted from the total enrollment fees, unless you previously bought the required learning materials from Vibal's online shop.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE

Can I pay via installment?

Yes, that is our default payment offering.

How will I pay the downpayment?

To start the enrollment process, please place an order on our website for your child's grade level. The total enrollment fees are published. However, when you pay, you only need to pay the initial downpayment as published per grade level. You will be billed separately for the each of the installment options.

What are my payment options?

You can pay via Paypal, GCash, bank deposit, fund transfer, Pera Padala.

ASSESSMENT

How do you assess my child's learning?

Happy Homeschool teachers will conduct assignments, performance tasks, quizzes, other types of formative assessments, unit tests, and periodic tests, as if in a formal school environment.

Will I receive reports of my child's performance?

Yes, you will receive quarterly report cards, aside from inputs that your child's teacher will provide you during scheduled parent conferences throughout the term.

At the end of the school year and prior to the PEPT (upon request), Vibal will provide your child's transcript of records and report card, as required by DepEd's Bureau of Assessment.

Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT)

Is my child required to take the PEPT?

These are the following factors for you to consider prior to your child taking the PEPT:

1) Do you want to re-enroll your child in a formal school in the next school year?

PEPT is required for learners outside the formal school system (such as independent homeschoolers) who wish to enroll in an accredited DepEd school or to re-enter the formal school system. The PEPT results will determine your child's grade level, depending on your child's age and ability. PEPT is an equivalency exam wherein learning experiences gained out of school are given equivalency and placement in the formal school system by grade level that is appropriate for the examinee’s age and ability.

Please note that if your child is moving up from Grade 10 to Senior High School, he or she is required to take the PEPT. Your child has to finish Senior High School in a DepEd-accredited school in order for them to qualify for college. They can no longer be homeschooled in Senior High School. They also can't enroll in college if they do not graduate from a DepEd-accredited Senior High School.

2) Do you wish to continue homeschooling your child?

If so, PEPT is not required though it is advisable, in order for you to determine and validate your child's learning progress.

If you only intend to homeschool your child in SY 2021 and you intend to re-enroll them in the formal school system in SY 2022 then your child needs to take the PEPT prior to SY 2022 enrollment. The PEPT will likely be rescheduled due to the pandemic. If you intend to homeschool your child indefinitely, they do not need to take the PEPT until the time comes when you do decide to have them re-enter the formal school system.

How can Happy Homeschool help me with PEPT?

We will prepare the required documentation for PEPT. Normally parents of independent homeschoolers will manage all the academic record-keeping. As your homeschool service provider, however, Happy Homeschool will prepare the required documents.

ENROLLMENT
